                                                    Summer flowers

Cosmos (Cosmos bipinnatus) is a beautiful summer flower that comes in many, both single and double colours. It's quite high, about 70-100 cm. Blooms long and goes well as a cut flower.

These Marigold (Tagetes erecta) become about one meter high and grow in a shrub like manner. When I first grew these Tagetes the flowers were red-brown with a yellow eye. Now they grow in all sorts of colour combinations, from all yellow to dark red.

This Blue Sage (Salvia farinacea) is a favourite when it comes to summer flowers. It is in constant bloom from June and until the frost gets it.

Woods Mallow (Malva mauritiana ´Windsor Castle´).  A truly impressive plant. I planted the seed early in the spring of 2004. During the summer it grew to a height of about 180 centimetres (6 feet) It bloomed until early November when the frost became to strong. This plant can be annual as well as perennial. It self seeds easily, so if the main plant doesn't survive the winter new plants will grow next summer.

African Lily, also known as Lily of the Nile, (Agapanthus). Are best grown in tight pots, then they flower more richly. I take them in for the winter and keep them in a cool and dark place in my basement.

The Angels Trumpet (Brugmansia) thrives and grows fast during warm summers. Craves much water and spreads an overpowering scent in the evenings. I cut it down and keep it in the cool cellar over winter.
